What would MacGyver do? I’m constantly looking for smart ways to protect my clients’ floors from scratches caused by my light stands whenever I’m shooting on location. I saw this clever solution on a recent shoot that I did with a film crew and loved the MacGyveresque genius of it!

I pitted my son’s 1000D against my Canon 1DS MK 111 and the results really surprised me! The contenders Canon 1000D with 18-55mm kit lens Weight 450gms Original cost $695 Raw File Size 9.8MB Canon 1DSMK 111 Weight 1210gms Original cost $8200 Raw File size 25MB New photographers and enthusiasts often ask me: which is the best camera to buy and with what lens? My reply is always the same. Firstly, I believe the best investment should be in the photographer not the gear. Before you go out and spend thousands on cameras and lenses I think everyone should invest some time in really learning the craft. Enrol in a photography course or reading blogs, books, listening to podcasts and doing an online course, can do this. I love this more than chocolate. Blue Light Blocking Glasses Did you know that our computers and mobile devices emit a blue light that tricks our brains into thinking it’s daytime? This is great when you need to get work done through the day and need to stay awake but spending late nights retouching or reading off a computer screen, tablet or phone is really detrimental to our quality of sleep. The sun sets our natural body clocks. Sunset is supposed to be a trigger for our bodies to produce melatonin. It’s crucial for good physical and emotional health that our bodies produce enough melatonin. Low melatonin rates have been associated with cancer, weight gain and depression. I began noticing that when I was up late retouching files or writing my quality of sleep that night was really poor. I did a bit of research and discovered my new “Call...
