Spend a day getting to know your space
Document the changing light
Notice the position of the sun
Experiment with camera position proximity to light
Pay respect to land
Time of day
Walk around, stumble on stuff
Look for depth
Look for shelter (sun and rain)
Good portrait should be meaningful or help tell a story
Shoot wide and with a higher f-stop to include the background
Direction of light
Use a long lens to avoid crowds
Go to the location very early to avoid crowds
