How to remove noise in an image using Lightroom

Digital noise can ruin an image but can easily be reduced with a few simple steps in Lightroom.

There are two kinds of noise: good noise, like the sound of rain on a tin roof, and bad noise, like the sound of a lawnmower at 7am on a Sunday morning.

Then there is digital noise which is the grain-like appearance and colour shifts in images photographed at high ISO or low light.

In this tutorial, Gina explains how to reduce the appearance of noise in your images using Lightroom CC.

Gina has created three one-click actions that will reduce the appearance of noise in your images.

  • Pixel Botox Lite: Reduces noise in a natural-looking way.
  • Pixel Botox Beverly Hills: Use this when the noise in your images stands out like, well, a LOT.
  • Pixel Botox Beverly Hills Sharp: Reduces noise and sharpens images.
